Disposing of Interest (Riba) Money
Riba — interest earned from bank accounts, deposits or investments — is strictly forbidden in Islam. However, since many Muslims cannot avoid receiving it in modern banking, scholars advise that such funds must not be kept or benefited from personally. They must be given away without any expectation of reward.
Interest money is best directed to public welfare needs where personal benefit is minimal — such as sanitation projects, road repairs, public toilets, disaster relief and general aid to the destitute of any faith. It should not be used for masjid construction, Qur'an printing, or personal Sadqah/Zakat.
Our trust accepts interest-income donations and channels them exclusively into eligible welfare programmes — helping the trust act as a trusted intermediary so donors can cleanse their wealth without benefiting from riba.
